Fashion and film are inseparable.

Fashion shows, more often than not, are inspired from scenes of a movie or even the whole movie itself. Likewise, films use fashion to create a mood, define a character, or depict an era.

WE get fashion inspirations from the films we watch.  :)

Join The Makeup Specialists' "All About The Eyes: Eye Makeup Workshop" Batch 2!

Our first Eye Makeup Workshop, held last May 25, 2013, was participated by some Davao Bloggers, headed by Miss Ria Jose. They served as our critics who gave suggestions, comments about the workshop and also our advertisers through their blog posts. :)

BYS Cosmetics was generous enough to provide the materials for our workshop.

Batch 2's tentative date is on July 20, 2013 (Saturday), from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Airbrush Makeup by Ryan G. Wong

On this post are some of my airbrush work on models or clients.

Airbrush makeup is makeup sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods. It has become more popular with the advent of high-definition video and television (HD). Traditional powder or liquid based make-up can settle and appear in pores and wrinkles and be visible on HD film. As the makeup is sprayed on, it connects with the skin as millions of droplets of formula.

The formula can create an even, sheer, natural appearance to the skin that, if applied properly for a natural look, can appear natural and non-heavy like traditional makeup. Airbrush makeup wears longer than traditional powder or liquid foundation, able to stay put upwards of 12–24 hours. Application wise, the technique is more sanitary than traditional makeup application due the artist never having to touch the skin. I personally like airbrush makeup because it gives the model or client a flawless matte finish. It also requires very less or even no touch ups! ;)

The Day I Learned Hi-Def

I got to learn about Hi-Def Makeup Studio and Academy in 2011 when I was looking for an Airbrush Makeup School in Metro Manila. Davao City has a few airbrush makeup artists, and when prospective clients ask me if I do airbrush, I always feel bad when I say "No".

So, I searched the internet for an Airbrush Makeup School, and was directed to a handful. I read their "About Us", and honestly it was very difficult to choose one school for me. You see, I don't go to makeup schools and study makeup just because it is a hobby. Makeup is my bread and butter, and when I decide to go to a school, I should be sure that I am getting what I paid for - or even more.

There was this blog who compared makeup schools in Metro Manila. All this blogger could comment about HD Makeup Studio and Academy were good ones - and that blogger was right.

Last April 2012, I enrolled in their Pro-Airbrush Makeup Course, and were my makeup skills put to test! I was like a child learning a new skill. It was like learning from scratch. It was REALLY a Pro Course!

The teachers, Mr. Jeave Gabiana and Miss Christephanie Chua-Sing, are very serious in their crafts. They are not just good makeup artists BUT very good makeup teachers. They would not stop checking your work UNTIL you get it RIGHT.

For someone who learned Airbrush in four grueling days (8-12 hours per session!), I could say the time AND money (for tuition and equipment) were well spent.
