My Life in M·A·C: M·A·C Me Over!

Have you been to a M·A·C store? :)
I still remember vividly my first ever visit to a M·A·C store.
It was in Glorietta (first M·A·C store in the Philippines), in February 2010, when I and my sister were looking for a foundation to be used for her wedding makeup.
A M·A·C girl, all clad in elegant black wardrobe, assisted us, and she talked us through M·A·C makeup base essentials (foundation and concealer). She was very confident as she demonstrated to us what products to purchase and how to use those items to achieve that perfect blooming bridal look. That was the time when I dreamed of becoming a M·A·C artist. I hoped that one day, I'd be the one educating clients about M·A·C products.
It made me think that makeup artistry COULD POSSIBLY BE MADE AS A PROFESSION, and that thought excited me.
Fast forward to June 2014, and I am now working at M·A·C (Mall of Asia door), yet everyday I am still amazed by how this brand touched every person who comes in its store, makeup artist and clients alike. How every person who knows or wants to know makeup application - from the makeup artist, to the makeup junkie, to the one who needs just the right lipstick shade for a job application - ever got to learn about the number one makeup brand.
Everyday at M·A·C, artists get to do makeovers on clients who'd like to look fabulous for an event, or teach clients who would just want to learn basic makeup application, or help out those who'd like to choose the right concealer shade for him or her. We show them how to maximize each M·A·C product that they purchase, making them feel that makeup application is not intimidating at all! :)
Below are photos of some clients that I made over (and they're not even complete!) :)

I also get super excited when past clients and Dabawenyos drop by the store.

Also, makeovers happen artist to artist, especially during Theme Days.

These are just a few of what happens inside the M·A·C store, and every M·A·C artist has a story to tell.
This is just one of those that I can share with you, Beauties.

My M·A·C Basic School Training

M·A·C, being the world's leading professional makeup authority, conducts trainings, both basic and updates, to its artists and other makeup professionals.

I got to experience makeup training last July 2014 as it was necessary to be a M·A·C artist. It was one week of knowing the history of M·A·C, how this amazing company started, from its humble beginnings to becoming what it is today. Aside from that, I, together with 12 other new artists, got to learn most importantly all about the products and how to use those products effectively. We learned how to do makeup the M·A·C way.
My favorite part? FACE CHART MAKING! :)
Below are a few of the photos that I have taken. I apologize that I was not able to take a lot as it was not allowed by our trainers (Confidentiality Agreement).

The Yson - Lotty E-Session

The day started with a sudden downpour, but that did not stop Yson and Lotty to do this shoot - their Engagement Session Shoot.

What made the day bright and cheerful, despite the gloomy weather, was the couple's warm and easygoing personalities. It was truly a fun experience working with them and the rest of the team for this PreNuptial Photo Shoot.

We toured around Davao City to find gorgeous locations; capturing the sunrise on the Seawall, the 20s-themed shoot at the Metro Card Club where the couple first met, and at the Crocodile Park for some kite flying (unfortunately the weather was too humid - no wind! lol. but that didn't ruin the fun). ;)

This e-session's team consists of Sole Infinite Photography, Allan Cuison, and yours truly.

Below are shots taken by Kiev Basaca and his team for Sole Infinite Photography.

Makeovers by Ryan G. Wong: Part 2

A makeover is defined as something applied to changing one’s appearance, sometimes through cosmetics. (Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makeover )
Every makeup artist has his own way of making over his client. He may do it in a dramatic, 180-degree-turn kind of way, or he may do it in a subtle way. Either way, it must be of advantage to the client.
Other times, we do “makeunders“, described as an opposite principle to a makeover – removing artificial enhancements to a person’s appearance to give a more ‘natural’ look (Source: Wikipedia).

It is the makeup artist's responsibility to educate or explain to his client whether the client needs more or less makeup.
Below are photos of client makeovers done by me. These pictures will show that with just a few makeup brush strokes, one can enhance their natural beauty.

My Life in M·A·C: Kick Off

I worked as a Science high school teacher for eight years.
Yes, Teaching IS a noble profession, and I would never dare question that.
I mean no offense to all teachers, but teaching Science was really not for me.
And so when my sister was assigned to work here in Metro Manila, I took that as an opportunity to try my luck and land the job that I truly want; my dream job - TO BE A PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST. Not only that, a makeup artist for the World's Leading Professional Makeup Authority, MAC Cosmetics.
Any makeup artist or makeup lover knows MAC. If you do not know MAC, then you don't know makeup at all.
Exactly a month after my arrival here in Manila (that's May 11), I started working as a retail Artist for MAC Cosmetics at SM Mall of Asia. It was truly new to me. EVERYTHING: sales, artistry, and the MAC Culture.
Beauties, it's a ride. :)
Below are photos of our Kick Off Party, the event that marks the start of MAC's Fiscal Year.
