Bridal Makeup for Ms. Maricel

As a makeup artist, one of the most important things I consider during weddings is building the Bride-Makeup Artist rapport. I need to communicate openly to the bride what she wants for her makeup and what I can do as her makeup artist.

This post is especially made for Miss Maricel who I now consider as one of my new found friends.

The pleasure was all mine when she chose me to be her makeup artist for her wedding day. We instantly connected during our first meeting.

Bridal Makeup for Ms. Ma-an Legarta - Irasga

On August 17, 2013, Ms. Ma-An Legarta became Mrs. Ma-An Legarta-Irasga, officially! ;)

Makeup was done by yours truly, and hair was by Allan Cuison.

Coordination was by Queue Events, headed by Ms. Nonnah Villas- Nuñez.

The Debutante

A debutante or deb (from the French débutante, "female beginner") is a girl or young lady from an aristocratic or upper class family who has reached the age of maturity and, as a new adult, is introduced to society at a formal "debut" presentation. Originally, it meant the young woman was eligible to marry, and part of the purpose was to display her to eligible bachelors and their families with a view to marriage within a select upper class circle. A debutante also means a young lady celebrating her eighteenth birthday, complete with cotillion, eighteen candles, eighteen treasures, and eighteen roses! :)

Our face is one of the delicate areas in our body. Without proper care, breakouts caused by bacterial infection or skin ailments caused by fungal infection may happen. :/

Makeup, which can be used to conceal breakouts, may also be the cause of this problem. Makeup brushes that have unremoved products in them, like foundation or eyeshadow, can harbor these harmful bacteria or fungi.

As a makeup artist, one of my key areas of concern is hygiene and sanitation, and makeup brushes are no exception. Brushes and tools should be clean and sanitized in-between clients.

* For Spot-Cleaning (like powder brushes):

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Spray the cleaner on the brush.

2. Wipe the brush (in a swirling/wiping motion) on a kitchen towel / tissue paper / small towel.

3. Voila! Let it dry for a while ( 2 mins TOPS!)

* Look at how this cleaner erases the product from my stippling brush:

* For Deep-Cleaning (like foundation or cream-product brushes)

1. Pour about one (1) tablespoon of cleaner in a shallow container.

2. Dip brush.

3. Swirl the brush and let the makeup product be removed from the brush.

4. Wipe brush with kitchen towel and let dry for a while.

Nica: Let Her Be Your Star

Meet Nica Dorothea C. Tupas, a student of mine two school years ago.

Now that she's fifteen, she's now weaving her dreams of becoming one of Davao City's - hopefully one of the country's - most sought-after songstresses.

Naturally gifted with the voice, and trained by Davao's Premier Vocal Music School MUSIKADEMY, Nica's repertoire is unlimited. She can do Pop, Jazz, Broadway, Rock - name it. And have I mentioned that Nica scats, too? :)
